WUST News - On September 19, Stanford University, in collaboration with the internationally renowned academic publisher Elsevier, released the 2025 World’s Top 2% Scientists list. The ranking consists of two major parts: Career-long impact” list and the “single-year Impact” list. A total of 14 scholars from Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST) were included in the former, while 45 scholars were named in the latter, making WUST first among provincial universities in Hubei in terms of the number of scholars selected in both lists.

The 2025 List identifies the world’s top 2% of scientists worldwide by standardized citation metrics—such as the composite indicator (c-score), h-index, co-authorship adjustments, and authorship positions—from nearly 7 million researchers worldwide. The List spans 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields, with scholars from over 600 Chinese mainland institutions making the cut.

The “Career-long impact” list evaluates a scientist’s comprehensive career-long contributions, while the “single-year Impact” list focuses on specifically on their academic impact within the previous calendar year. Together, they offer an objective and accurate authentic reflection of a scientist’s academic leadership and scholarly reach.

This achievement underscores WUST’s growing influence in global scientific research and highlights the university’s commitment to excellence across a wide range of academic fields.
