WUST News On November 2nd, the Advanced Materials and New Green Manufacturing Technologies sub-forum of the 2023 International Industry-University-Research Cooperation Conference (Hubei) was held at the Biyuan Hall of WUST. In attendance were Zhou Qihong, Deputy Director of the Hubei Provincial Department of Education, Ni Hongwei, President of WUST, Ma Teng, Vice President of WUST, Xiao Qiaoling, Director of the Office of International Relations, Gu Huazhi, Executive Director of the Faculty of Materials, and other distinguished guests. The opening ceremony of the conference was chaired by Ma Teng.
Zhou Qihong delivered the opening speech, highlighting that the Advanced Materials and Green Manufacturing New Technologies sub-forum brought together international and domestic experts and scholars, creating a high-standard, high-quality, and high-level academic gathering. This forum would undoubtedly contribute to build a platform for exchange and cooperation, open up innovative practice paths, broaden academic research horizons, and pave a way for the development of advanced materials and new green manufacturing technologies.
Ni Hongwei delivered a welcoming speech, extending a warm welcome to the participants and providing an overview of the conference and WUST. He expressed the expectation for fruitful discussions and collaborative efforts among the attending experts to explore the opportunities and challenges in the field of advanced materials and new green manufacturing technologies. The aim is to establish an international platform for industry-university-research cooperation, achieve deep integration between education, scientific research, and industry, and promote high-quality development in the field of advanced materials and green manufacturing.
The academic presentation session was hosted by Pro. Yan Wen and Associate Prof. Song Shengqiang from WUST. Professors Robert Cromarty from the University of Pretoria in South Africa, In-Ho Jung from Seoul National University, Kirill Andreev from Vesuvius Flow Control in Belgium, Chris Parr, Chairman of the International Refractories Education and Research Alliance, Dr. Hong Peng from Elkem in Norway, Prof. Ajayi Samuel Oluwakayode from Covenant University in Nigeria, Prof. Xiaofeng Guo from Université Paris Cité, Prof. Yan Wang from the University of Brighton, Dr. Hang Liu from the Universität Innsbruck, and Dr. Ying Liu from WUST participated in the exchange on advanced materials and new green manufacturing technologies online and offline.
The closing speech was delivered by Prof. Ma Guojun from WUST, who expressed gratitude for the excellent presentations by all the participating experts. He emphasized the importance of this symposium as an opportunity to collaborate and build a global community for scientific and technological innovation. The aim is to create a fair, balanced, inclusive, and shared international cooperation platform that will lead the way for high-quality development in scientific and technological innovation.
This sub-forum is an integral part of the Ministry of Education's 2023 International Industry-University-Research Cooperation Conference and is supported by the Ministry of Education and Hubei Provincial People's Government. It is organized by the School Planning and Construction Development Center of the Ministry of Education and the Hubei Provincial Department of Education, and hosted by WUST. Approximately 300 experts, scholars, and graduate students from both domestic and international backgrounds participated in the sub-forum online and offline.
