WUST News On November 4, the 2023 International Industry-University-Research Cooperation Conference (Hubei) was held in Wuhan. Shao Xinyu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Executive Vice Governor, and Zhou Jing, Director of the Hubei Provincial Department of Education, attended the conference. During the conference, Ma Teng, Vice President of WUST, and Prof. Robert Cromarty of the University of Pretoria in South Africa jointly unveiled the China-Africa Research Center for Low-Carbon Metallurgy.
The center is a collaborative research institution established and managed by WUST. The University of Pretoria, Covenant University in Nigeria, and Ain Shams University in Egypt are core participating partners in this cooperation.
The center aims to attract more research strength from the metallurgical universities in China and Chinese-African internationalized enterprises to jointly conduct scientific research, talent training, and cultural exchanges in the field of low carbon metallurgy, promoting low-carbon and green innovation and development of the metallurgical industry.
The Executive Director Gu Huazhi, Vice Director Fu Lvping and Associate Professor Song Shengqiang from the Faculty of Materials, and Liu Dai from the Office of International Relations were invited to attend the meeting.
On October 26, during the opening ceremony of the 2023 International Industry-University-Research Cooperation Conference (Jiangxi), WUST and the University of Pretoria unveiled the WUST-University of Pretoria Low-Carbon Metallurgy International Cooperation Joint Laboratory.
