WUST website news (correspondent: Hu Lin) Recently, China Association for Science and Technology announced “the Belt and Road” CAST Platform Construction Project 2020 of International Science and Technology Organization.
The “Sino-German-Australian International Exchange and Cooperation in Refractories and New Metallurgical Technologies” led by Professor Li Yawei, deputy director of WUST’s State Key Laboratory of Refractories and Metallurgy co-sponsored by province and ministry, was approved, first time for WUST to be approved this kind of project.
This year, 434 project applications were made nationwide. After qualification examination and expert evaluation, 62 projects were approved, accounting for 14.3% of all the applications.
Four projects from four universities in Hubei, including WUST, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University, and Huazhong Normal University.
For the approved project, we plan to carry out cooperation and exchanges in terms of personnel training, scientific and technological cooperation, enterprise-university-research cooperation and cultural exchanges, add relevant language and culture courses, expand the scale of international exchange programs and dispatched personnel, and carry out international talent training in the refractory material and metallurgy field with leading universities in Germany and Austria; work with relevant “Belt and Road” countries to tackle key scientific issues such as material design, toughening mechanism, preparation process and service behavior evaluation, so as to continuously enhance the level and depth of scientific and technological cooperation; establish joint laboratories, join hands with universities, research institutions and enterprises in Germany and Austria, and promote the technological progress of industrialization and the transformation and upgrading of enterprises with the demand of iron and steel enterprises as the driving force, so as to achieve a win-win situation; conduct extensive cultural exchanges with Germany and Austria, broaden the academic horizons of scientific and technological personnel from all countries, stimulate scientific and technological innovation, strengthen trust and understanding among countries, weaken cultural conflicts, and promote cultural share, so as to lay a solid public opinion foundation for deepening scientific and technological cooperation.
In response to the national “Belt and Road” initiative, serve the overall diplomatic needs, promote scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation with countries along “the Belt and Road”, and boost the concretization, substantiation and deepening of “the Belt and Road” construction, China Association for Science and Technology launched ‘the Belt and Road’ Cooperation Platform Project of International Science and Technology Organization in 2016.
The project has received wide attention and positive response from nationwide societies, science and technology associations at all levels, colleges and universities, China Committee of International Organizations, etc.
