WUST News — On November 25, a delegation from Birmingham City University (BCU), led by Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Marcia Wilson, visited Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST) for an institutional review of the Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run undergraduate program in Network Engineering. President Lv Yong met with the delegation at the Huangjiahu Campus to to jointly evaluate the program’s operational quality and discuss future development.

President Lv warmly welcomed the BCU review team and commended the decade-long achievements of the joint program, highlighting its significant contributions to talent development and WUST's internationalization strategy. He expressed hope that both institutions would further integrate high-quality educational resources, expand collaboration areas, and advance more substantive partnerships.

Professor Marcia Wilson and her team gained detailed insights into the project's operational management, teaching conditions, and student development. She praised the program for its promising potential in further education and employment opportunities. She affirmed that, with a solid cooperative foundation and continuously refined operational mechanisms, the program is well-positioned to deliver even greater educational outcomes in the coming years.

Since its launch in 2015, the Network Engineering joint program has successfully passed two rounds of quality evaluations by China's Ministry of Education. This year, the program's annual enrollment quota was increased from 100 to 150 students, and it received Ministry approval to transition from awarding only a Chinese degree to conferring dual degrees—one from WUST and one from BCU—significantly enhancing its international recognition and academic value. This on-site institutional review by the British partner is expected to further propel the program toward higher-quality, internationally aligned development.
