Delegation of the Gabonese Ministry of 

Mines and Geology Visits WUST

WUST News (reporter: Chen Machuan) The delegation of the Gabonese Ministry of Mines and Geology led by Eric Damien Biyoghe Bi Ella, the Office Director, paid a visit to WUST on July 27. Lv Yong, the Vice President of WUST, received the delegation at Room 1610, the main building of Qingshan Campus.

Lv Yong welcomed the delegation and introduced WUST's history, education and teaching, scientific research, and disciplinary characteristics. Lv Yong highly affirmed the expertise connectivity between the two sides, as well as the cooperation foundation and potential. He hoped that this exchange and discussion would deepen the mutual understanding and promote cooperation in talent cultivation and scientific research, achieving complementation of advantages and mutual-benefiting cooperation.

Eric Damien Biyoghe Bi Ella stated that China and Gabon have a comprehensive strategic partnership, and the year 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He added that the exchanges between the two countries in the economic, political, and social fields have been deepening and that the signing of the agreement between the Gabonese Ministry of Mines and Geology and WUST meets the needs of both sides. He hoped that this discussion would deepen their understanding, maintain close contact, and consolidate cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, talent cultivation, and laboratory construction, working together for progress and common development.

Wu Kaiming, Executive Dean of the International Steel Research Institute of WUST, introduced the situation of the institute. Xiao Qiaoling, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, introduced the status of international education of WUST.

Eric Damien Biyoghe Bi Ella and Wu Kaiming signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of the two sides.

The delegation from the Gabonese Ministry of Mines and Geology, including diplomatic advisors, legal advisors, technical advisors, and translators, as well as Lin Ping, Chairman of Zhongning Mining (Gabon) Co., Ltd., and relevant department heads of WUST, attended the meeting.

On July 26, Eric Damien Biyoghe Bi Ella and his delegation visited the State Key Laboratory of Environmental Protection for Metallurgy Resources Utilization and Pollution Control, the State Key Laboratory of Refractories and Metallurgy, and the State Collaborative Innovation Center for High-performance Steel Materials and Applications at WUST.

On July 28, the delegation continued the visit at WUST and held discussions with the Chongqing Institute of Green and Intelligent Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Zhongxin Urban Ecological Industry Technology Co., Ltd., among others.
