At the award ceremony, Zhou Jing, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Hubei Provincial Department of Education, emphasized that universities, as the main front for talent cultivation and the source of original innovation, should strengthen strengthen their role in fostering innovation. She highlighted three key areas: enhancing fundamental education through holistic moral and innovation-entrepreneurship education; building platforms such as modern industry colleges and AI institutes to boost students’ practical abilities; and creating a collaborative ecosystem that integrates industry, academia, research, and application while leveraging alumni resources to improve innovation and entrepreneurship services.
Since the launch of this year's competition, the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship has carried out strategic planning and organization, with active engagement from all colleges to encourage faculty and students to participate. A total of 3,976 projects involving 14,498 students were submitted. To enhance the the quality of the entries, the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship conducted systematic planning and meticulous organization. In March, the Qinhu Cup Innovation Competition was held to select key projects and teams and establish a key project database. In May and June, the WUST held the on-site competition and gold medal ranking competition for the China International College Students' Innovation Competition (2025) and set up an innovation and entrepreneurship training camp, inviting experts from inside and outside the university to conduct over 40 online and offline lectures and tutorials. These efforts focused on improving the quality of competition projects and the ability of team members to compete, with numerous guidance and exchange activities conducted within colleges. The outstanding achievements in the competition fully demonstrate our students' youthful spirit of daring and adeptness in innovation and vividly reflect the effectiveness of the university's innovation and entrepreneurship education reform.
In recent years, the WUST has fully implemented the strategy outlined at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on the "coordinated promotion of education, technology, and talent," anchoring the needs of Hubei's "51020" modern industrial cluster. By focusing on the three key questions of "Is there? Dare to? Can it be done?" and using the integration of the "education chain, innovation chain, and industrial chain" as the core engine, we continuously improve the transformation platform and strengthen innovation services, actively creating a favorable ecosystem for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and the innovation and entrepreneurship of faculty and students. These efforts have established a full-chain dual-innovation education system of "interdisciplinary talent cultivation - sci-tech innovation practice - industry feedback," providing an innovative paradigm for provincial universities to serve regional development.
The China International College Students' Innovation Competition, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education with central units and local provincial governments, has become the largest and most influential innovation and entrepreneurship event for college students in China.
