WUST News (Reporter: Qiao Mengke) On March 7-8, the project kick-off & implementation plan demonstration meeting for the "Key Preparation Technologies and Applications of High-Performance Porous Ceramic Materials for Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection", a National Key R&D Program project during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, which is undertaken by WUST, was held in Beijing. The project is led by Ruite Technology Co., Ltd., and jointly carried out by Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Nanjing Tech University, Tsinghua University, China Building Materials Academy, and other institutions. Professor Li Xiangcheng from WUST is in charge of the project "Large-Scale Preparation, Application Demonstration, and Evaluation of Porous Ceramic Lining Materials for Long-Life Hazardous Waste Melting Furnaces." Professor Chen Ping'an, Associate Professor Chen Fu, and Postdoctoral Fellow Qiao Mengke are respectively in charge of related sub-projects.
Yu Xiaoxiao, Deputy Director of the Materials Division of the High-Tech Research and Development Center of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and other guests attended the meeting. The meeting was attended by the specially invited expert group for the demonstration of the project implementation plan. Members of the group included researcher Huang Zhengren from the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Shen Yang from Tsinghua University, Professor-Level Senior Engineer He Zhiyong from CISRI Engineering Design Co., Ltd., Professor Hou Xinmei from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, Professor Huang Zhaohui from the China University of Geosciences, Beijing, Professor An Quanfu from Beijing University of Technology, and Professor Luo Wei from Donghua University, among others. Zhang Wenjin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Director, and Wen Zhaijun, Deputy General Manager of China Building Materials Academy, and more than 50 members of the research backbone attended the meeting.
Professor Li Xiangcheng, the project leader, comprehensively introduced the research background, objectives, research plan, task decomposition, schedule, expected results, organization and implementation, risk analysis, and budget of the project, and reported on the specific implementation plan.
Yu Xiaoxiao, Deputy Director of the Materials Division of the High-Tech Research and Development Center of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, pointed out that the project should closely follow the guidelines and mission statements to build a complete indicator system, clearly define the core indicators, and strictly implement them. A regular expert communication mechanism should be established, and the implementation path should be continuously optimized relying on responsible experts and peer think tanks to ensure the production of representative benchmark results in the field during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. She stressed that all participating units should give full play to the spirit of unity and cooperation, clarify the interface relations and forms of performance among research teams, and ensure the smooth completion of the project.
The expert group listened carefully to the report on the implementation plan report, conducted an in-depth demonstration, asked questions, and finally unanimously approved the demonstration of the implementation plan. The experts put forward constructive suggestions on project coordination, refinement of results and construction of the demonstration project. These suggestions provided strong support for the smooth progress of the project and ensured its efficient and high-quality organization and implementation.

Professor Li Xiangcheng, Dean of the Faculty of Materials of WUST, and Postdoctoral Fellow Qiao Mengke attended the meeting. The successful holding of this project Kick-off & Implementation Plan Demonstration Meeting has clarified the ideas and defined the core research directions for the project implementation. With the coordinated efforts of all units, it is expected that the project will achieve its research goals and overcome key technical problems. Breakthroughs will be made in the precise control of pore structure and large-scale preparation of alumina and silicon carbide porous ceramics. This will provide solid technical support for the high-quality development of China's energy conservation and environmental protection industries and make significant contributions to the construction of a green and low-carbon society.
