WUST News On September 26, a delegation led by Baskaran, Vice President of Deakin University in Australia, visited the WUST. WUST Vice President Lv Yong met with the guests. The two sides held a joint management committee meeting to promote cooperation. Luo Yuanping, Deputy Director of the Office of International Relations, chaired the meeting.
Lv Yong extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Deakin University and affirmed the achievements of the undergraduate cooperative education project in mechanical engineering jointly run by the two universities. He hoped that the WUST could continue to cooperate with Deakin University to build a high-end international cooperation platform and further enhance WUST’s international influence.
Baskaran thanked the WUST for its welcome and introduced Deakin University's efforts to expand international cooperation, hoping that this visit and exchange could contribute to new breakthroughs in bilateral cooperation. Both sides of the meeting carefully sorted out the details of scientific research cooperation, academic exchanges, undergraduate and postgraduate talent cultivation, etc., and reached a consensus.
This meeting was attended by relevant leaders from the Undergraduate School, the Graduate School, the School of Information and the School of Machinery and Automation participated in this meeting.
In the afternoon, the delegation from Deakin University, relevant officials from the Office of International Relations and the School of Machinery and Automation attended the Welcome Ceremony for the new International Mechanical Engineering Class of 2024. Baskaran extended a warm welcome to all the new students and encouraged them to draw on the advantages of the educational systems of both countries in an intercultural context and seek their own wonderful future. Wang Zhaohui, Executive Dean of the School of Machinery and Automation, delivered a message to the freshmen: Set high ideals and shoulder the missions of the times; study hard and diligently to enhance professional qualities; strengthen innovative practice and broaden international horizons.
Wang Yanan, Vice Dean of the School of Engineering at Deakin University, introduced the basic situation of Deakin University and its international student support services to the students of the 2023 international class of mechanical engineering. He also introduced the latest policies of Deakin University regarding transfer and postgraduate study, and encouraged everyone to study assiduously and write a new chapter of their lives.
