WUST News (Reporter: Li Yufei) On March 16, the WUST held the National Key Research and Development Program Kick-Off and Implementation Plan Validation Meeting. The program is led by the CNMC NingXia Orient Group Co., Ltd., with Professor Liu Tao, Dean of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering at WUST, serving as the program leader. The program focuses on "Technologies for Short-range Recovery of Multi-metal from Nonferrous Smelting Slag and Industry Linkage Utilization" in the national key research and development program. Deputy Director Ke Bing from The Administrative Center for China's Agenda 21, Vice General Manager Wang Dongxin from the CNMC NingXia Orient Group Co., Ltd., Academician Chai Liyuan from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Ni Hongwei, President of the WUST, and Director Zhang Yimin of the Academic Committee of the WUST attended the meeting.
Ni Hongwei welcomed the leaders, experts, and guests on behalf of the WUST, expressing gratitude for their support for the WUST's development and construction. He introduced the basic situation of the WUST and mentioned that the national key research and development program approved this time will enhance China's secondary strategic resource recycling capacity, effectively support pollution reduction, carbon mitigation, and green development in industries and regions, demonstrating profound strategic significance and important academic value. The WUST will provide policy incentives and support to promote the smooth implementation and operation of the program, striving to achieve significant technological breakthroughs and transformation. President Ni expressed hope that experts would offer valuable insights to pave the way for the successful implementation of the program.
Ke Bing introduced the basic information of the key special project "Key Technologies and Equipment for Circular Economy" under the national key research and development program in the 14th Five-Year Plan. He combined this with the audit situation of the national key research and development program conducted by the National Audit Office, explaining the key links, management requirements, and important matters during the program implementation process. He emphasized that the program team should strengthen program organization and management, regulate the use of scientific research results and funds, complete the research and development tasks and assessment indicators of the program with high quality, and promote breakthroughs and innovative development in key core technologies in relevant fields.
Wang Dongxin issued letters of appointment to the eight expert advisory committee members, including Academician Chai Liyuan and Researcher Li Huiquan, and introduced the background of CNMC NingXia Orient Group Co., Ltd. He mentioned that as the executing unit of the program, the CNMC NingXia Orient Group Co., Ltd. would enhance organizational coordination, optimize work mechanisms, and provide personnel, funding, implementation conditions, and program management support for the smooth implementation of the program. At the same time, the CNMC NingXia Orient Group Co., Ltd. will fully tap into the innovation resource advantage of central enterprises and the technological strengths of industry leaders and combine vanadium resource team of the WUST and over 10 high-level research platforms of domestic research institutes, construct a green technology system for the high-value utilization of non-ferrous smelting slag. Through the integrated demonstration of the entire industry chain, the program will propel the significant iterative green upgrades of China's non-ferrous metallurgical technology.
Liu Tao presented the program implementation plan, with Associate Researcher Chen Jie from the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Xue Nannan from the WUST, Senior Engineer Li Jianbing from CNMC NingXia Orient Group Co., Ltd., Professor Pan Jian from Central South University, and Chief Senior Engineer Zhang Xiaobing from the BGRIMM Technology Group, Ltd. each reporting on their respective topics.
After listening to the presentations, questioning and discussion, the experts at the meeting expressed their opinions and agreed on the implementation plan of the program and its sub-projects.
During internal program management and academic discussions, participants discussed the validation of the program and sub-project implementation plans, internal program management practices, as well as program data submission schedules, methods, and sharing agreements.
After the meeting, Ke Bing and his delegation, accompanied by Vice President Ma Teng, visited the State Environmental Protection Key Laboratory of Mineral Metallurgical Resources Utilization and Pollution Control, and held discussions with the faculty and students from the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering.
Over 50 individuals attended the meeting, including representatives from The Administrative Center for China's Agenda 21, CNMC NingXia Orient Group Co., Ltd., program tracking experts, experts from the program advisory committee and implementation plan review, as well as leaders from various departments of the WUST.
