WUST NewsThe China Scholarship Council (CSC) recently announced the 2026 funding results for the Innovative Talent International Cooperation Program. The "Joint International Training Program in Artificial Intelligence and Smart Metallurgy" submitted by Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST) has been approved after rigorous review and defense, securing program funding.

The CSC’s Innovative Talent International Cooperation Program is a key initiative designed to serve national strategies by cultivating more innovative, high-demand, and interdisciplinary international talents. Operating under a "project-approval-first, candidate-selection-later" model, the program enables WUST to select and recommend candidates annually based on the approved project framework, with final appointments made by the CSC before dispatch.

WUST’s Joint International Training Program in Artificial Intelligence and Smart Metallurgy will run from 2026 to 2028. Leveraging the universitys disciplinary strengths, the program focuses on cutting-edge areas integrating AI and smart metallurgy. Disciplines covered include Control Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Systems Science, and related fields. Partner institutions include Yeungnam University (South Korea), Birmingham City University (UK), Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Netherlands), and Complutense University of Madrid (Spain).

Each year, WUST will select 10 outstanding participants—comprising 2 doctoral students, 4 joint-training doctoral students, 2 visiting scholars, and 2 postdoctoral researchers—for overseas study and research. The CSC will provide round-trip international travel and a living allowance during the funding period.

This program marks WUSTs second approved CSC Innovative Talent International Cooperation Program, following the "Training Program for Innovative Talents in Materials Science and Engineering Under the Dual-Carbon Context" in 2021. It establishes a solid foundation for long-term, sustainable research collaboration with world-class universities and institutions and advances the international training of innovative talent. The program also strengthens WUSTs capacity to support Hubei’s development as a strategic hub and accelerate breakthroughs in first-class discipline construction. (Office of International Relations)
