WUST News (Reporter: Zhou Tongjiang) – On June 17, U.S. News & World Report released its 2025–2026 Best Global Universities Rankings, featuring 2,250 universities worldwide. According to the ranking, Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST) secured the 869th position globally, 121st domestically within China, and ranked first among provincial universities in Hubei. WUST advanced 108 places globally and 8 places domestically compared to the previous year.

U.S. News also published its 2025–2026 World University Subject Rankings, covering 51 specialized disciplines. A total of 17 disciplines from WUST were listed, with 11 entering the global top 300 in their respective fields.

First launched in 2014 by U.S. News & World Report, the ranking has built a strong reputation over 11 years as one of the most influential and authoritative global university evaluations.

In recent years, WUST has achieved breakthrough progress in education development, scientific innovation, and talent cultivation, driven by its first-class discipline development strategy. In 2024, the university successfully obtained approval for the National Key Laboratory of Advanced Refractories, added two new doctoral programs, and increased its number of ESI global top 1% disciplines to six. Ten WUST disciplines were listed in the ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, and the university ranked first for two consecutive years in the Hubei Provincial First-Class Discipline Development Assessment.
