WUST News (Correspondents: Xiao Yang, He Chongxi) On November 7, a grand event focusing on green technology and sustainable development-the China-Africa Green Technology and Sustainable Development Seminar was held under the framework of the China-Africa Innovation Cooperation and Development Forum. The seminar invited experts and scholars from the South African Academy of Sciences, the BGRIMM Technology Group, the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and other Chinese and African universities, scientific research institutes and enterprises to give special reports.
Dong Lijie, Vice-President of WUST, delivered the opening speech and signed a cooperation agreement with Addis Ababa University of Science and Technology in Ethiopia on behalf of the university.
With the theme of "Combining China-Africa Strengths, Leading the Green Trend", the seminar focused on the key areas of new energy, mineral resources and sustainable development of green technology in China and Africa, and carried out extensive academic exchanges and discussions based on areas such as efficient resource development, advanced low-carbon metallurgical technologies, green resource utilization equipment and facilities, and green energy policy research.
During the seminar, Chinese and African experts exchanged their latest research achievements and practical experiences in the field of green technology, and unanimously agreed that China and Africa should strengthen cooperation in the field of green technology to jointly promote the transformation of mineral resource development and utilization towards green, low-carbon and sustainable directions. In addition, the seminar also held in-depth discussions on China-Africa green cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The China-Africa Green Technology and Sustainable Development Seminar was a sub-venue of the 2024 China-Africa Forum on Innovation Cooperation and Development. The seminar was co-hosted by the WUST, Shandong Jianzhu University, Wuhan Institute of Technology and other units, and jointly organized by the School of Materials and Metallurgy and the International School of the WUST. The successful holding of the seminar not only provided a valuable exchange platform for both China and Africa, but also injected new impetus into promoting China-Africa green technology cooperation and achieving sustainable development goals.
