WUST News (Correspondents: Li Peiqi and Zhu Menghan) On April 15, Eugenio Lanzetta, President of the International Ecological Environmental Design Association (IEED) and founder of Amalart, was invited by the WUST to give a joint academic lecture on the theme of Art and Sustainability in the lecture hall 70308. The lecture was chaired by Professor Jiang Lan from the School of Art and Design at WUST. Professor Liu Yiyuan from the Department of Chinese Painting of Hubei Institute of Fine Arts, Teacher Zhao Jing from the Department of Industrial Design of Hubei Institute of Fine Arts, some teachers, graduate students and undergraduates from the School of Art and Design at WUST participated in this lecture.

Jiang Lan introduced of Lanzetta’s achievements to the teachers and students present and welcomed him warmly on behalf of all the teachers and students. In this lecture, Eugenio Lanzetta introduced how Italian artists have approached sustainable design step by step by introducing the evolution of Italian history, and shared his understanding and thinking on the combination of design and sustainability with the teachers and students present.

Eugenio Lanzetta has vividly demonstrated the methods and techniques of using natural materials in artistic creation through in-depth research into a large number of cases of Italian artists. These cases explored in depth the unique charm and aesthetic value of natural materials in artistic works. Eugenio Lanzetta paid attention not only to the works of art themselves, but also to the environmental friendliness of natural materials. By analysing and interpreting the natural materials used in artists' works, he demonstrated the important role of these materials in artistic creation and explained their positive impact on the environment.

Eugenio Lanzetta then went on to explore the changes in the environmental consciousness of the Italian people. He pointed out that this change is not limited to artists, but has received widespread attention and response throughout the entire society. The Italian people have gradually become aware of the importance of protecting the environment and have begun to consciously choose to use environmentally friendly materials in their daily lives, paying more attention to the sustainability of the environment. This change in awareness has led to the emergence and application of innovative materials. Eugenio Lanzetta pointed out that the design industry in Italy is undergoing a revolutionary change, and the concepts of design and sustainability have begun to be deeply integrated. Designers are just concerned with the appearance and function of the work, but are also paying more attention to the source, renewability and environmental impact of the materials.
