    Vice President of Deakin University Visits WUST

    WUST News: On November 14, Vice President Nick Birbilis from Deakin University led a delegation to visit WUST. President Ni Hongwei met with the delegation. Sun Guosheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, also attended the meeting.

    President Ni Hongwei warmly welcomed Vice President Nick Birbilis and his delegation. He expressed that WUST has been successfully collaborating with Deakin University in the joint Chinese-foreign cooperative education program in mechanical engineering for ten years. Over the past decade, the collaboration between the two universities has deepened and solidified, establishing a strong academic and research connection. He hoped that both parties can build upon this foundation and leverage the development of the times to find common ground and areas of cooperation in new fields, further deepening exchanges and collaboration between our institutions.

    Nick Birbilis expressed his gratitude for the warm reception. He emphasized the establishment and strengths of the faculty of engineering at Deakin University, as well as their recent internationalization development strategy. Moreover, Nick Birbilis congratulated WUST on its 125th anniversary and expressed respect for its hundred years of development history. He highly praised the academic and education achievements at WUST.

    During the meeting, representatives from Deakin University, including the School of Engineering, School of Information Technology, School of Life and Environmental Sciences, and the Chinese Affairs Office, as well as representatives from WUST's Office of International Relations, Office of Research and Development, Undergraduate School, School of Mechanical Automation, School of Information Science and Engineering, and School of Life Science and Health, were present.

    Accompanied by Sun Guosheng, the delegation visited the Key Laboratory for Metallurgy Equipment and Control Units, Ministry of Education, the State Key Laboratory of Refractories and Metallurgy, the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems, the Hubei Key Laboratory of Intelligent Information Processing and Real-Time Industrial System, and the School of Life Science and Health The delegation also had a discussion with students participating in the cooperative education program with Deakin University.
