WUST News (Reporter: Liu Ruixuan) On October 27, the higher education evaluation agency, ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, released the 2023 ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. WUST has 11 disciplines that have been selected, ranking first among universities in Hubei Province and sixth among all universities in China.

According to the rankings, WUST's disciplines of mechanical engineering, instrumentation science, computer science and engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, nanoscience and technology, energy science and engineering, bioengineering, mining engineering, and clinical medicine have all been included in the list.

The 2023 ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects covers 55 disciplines across five major fields: natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medicine, and social sciences. This ranking included more than 5,000 universities worldwide, with over 1,900 institutions from 104 countries and regions ultimately appearing on the lists of various disciplines.

Over the past four years, the number of WUST's disciplines included in the ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects has been increasing each year. WUST has consistently maintained the highest number of disciplines listed and the highest overall ranking among universities in Hubei Province. Compared to 2022, WUST has newly entered the list this year in the disciplines of instrumentation science, civil engineering, bioengineering, mining engineering, and clinical medicine.

The ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects adopts the Academic Excellence Survey, which includes 36 prestigious academic awards, 121 top journals in various disciplines, and 31 top academic conferences in the field of computer science and engineering, as important dimensions for measuring academic performance of universities.
